Shrimp creole
Ingredients/Components
- cooked shrimp whole or cut in pieces
- onion, peeled and finely chopped - 1 item
- green pepper, finely chopped - 1 item
- celery, diced - 1/2 c
- bay leaves - 2 item
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- canned tomatoes, chopped - 3 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- sugar - 1 tsp
- cayenne pepper - 1/2 tsp
- garlic powder - 2 tsp
- lemon pepper - 1/2 tsp
- cooked rice - 3 c
How to make shrimp creole:
Saute onion, green pepper, celery and the bay leaves in butter for 10 minutes, being careful not to burn them. Add flour; stir until fully blended, 3 minutes. Add tomatoes, salt, sugar, garlic powder, cayenne and lemon pepper. Simmer gently for 15 minutes. Add shrimp; continue to simmer until shrimp are thoroughly heated. Serve on a bed of hot rice.
