Ingredients/Components

  • cooked shrimp whole or cut in pieces
  • onion, peeled and finely chopped - 1 item
  • green pepper, finely chopped - 1 item
  • celery, diced - 1/2 c
  • bay leaves - 2 item
  • butter - 2 Tbsp
  • flour - 2 Tbsp
  • canned tomatoes, chopped - 3 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • cayenne pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • garlic powder - 2 tsp
  • lemon pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • cooked rice - 3 c

How to make shrimp creole:

Saute onion, green pepper, celery and the bay leaves in butter for 10 minutes, being careful not to burn them. Add flour; stir until fully blended, 3 minutes. Add tomatoes, salt, sugar, garlic powder, cayenne and lemon pepper. Simmer gently for 15 minutes. Add shrimp; continue to simmer until shrimp are thoroughly heated. Serve on a bed of hot rice. Makes 6 servings.
