Shrimp creole
Ingredients/Components
- chopped onion
- finely chopped celery - 1 c
- medium green peppers, finely chopped - 2 item
- cloves garlic, minced - 2 item
- butter - 1/4 c
- can tomato sauce - 1 oz
- water - 1 c
- snipped parsley - 2 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- cayenne pepper - 1/8 tsp
- bay leaves, crushed - 2 item
- fresh or frozen cleaned raw shrimp * - 14 16
- hot cooked rice - 3 c
How to make shrimp creole:
Cook and stir onion, celery, green pepper and garlic in butter until onion is tender. Remove from heat; stir in tomato sauce, water and seasonings. Simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes. Add water if needed. Stir in shrimp. Heat to boiling. Cover and cook over medium heat 10 to 20 minutes or until shrimp are pink and tender. Serve over rice. Makes 6 servings.*Rinse frozen shrimp under running cold water to remove ice glaze.
