Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • salt
  • cornstarch - 2 tsp
  • salad oil - 3 Tbsp
  • clove garlic, minced - 1 item
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1 Tbsp
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • chopped celery - 1/2 c
  • chili powder - 1/2 1
  • can tomato sauce - 1 oz
  • chopped green pepper - 1/2 c
  • can tomatoes - 1 lb
  • dash bottled hot pepper sauce - 1 item
  • cleaned, raw shrimp - 12 oz

How to make shrimp creole:

Cook onion, celery and garlic in hot oil until tender, but not brown. Add tomatoes and next 6 ingredients; simmer, uncovered, for 45 minutes. Mix cornstarch with 1 tablespoon cold water; stir into sauce. Cook and stir until mixture thickens and bubbles. Add shrimp and green pepper. Cover and simmer until done, about 5 minutes. Serves 6. Good served over rice.
