Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • salt
  • cornstarch - 1 tsp
  • cold water - 2 tsp
  • salad oil - 3 Tbsp
  • clove garlic, minced - 1 item
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • chopped celery - 1/2 c
  • chili powder - 1 tsp
  • can tomato sauce - 1 oz
  • chopped green pepper - 1/2 c
  • can tomatoes - 1 lb
  • dash of Tabasco - 1 item
  • cleaned raw shrimp

How to make shrimp creole:

Cook onion, celery and garlic in hot oil until tender. Be careful not to burn garlic. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, sugar, chili powder, Worcestershire and Tabasco. Simmer, uncovered, 45 minutes. Mix cornstarch with water; stir into sauce until mixture thickens. Add shrimp and green pepper. Cover; simmer about 5 minutes. Serve over rice. Makes 4 servings.
