Ingredients/Components

  • peanut oil - 2 Tbsp
  • chopped onion - 1 c
  • chopped green peppers - 3/4 c
  • chopped celery - 3/4 c
  • chopped parsley - 1/4 c
  • flour
  • fresh tomatoes - 1 can
  • clove garlic, minced - 1 item
  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • shelled and cleaned shrimp - 1 lb

How to make shrimp creole:

Cook onions, pepper, celery and parsley in oil or bacon fat about 5 minutes. Stir flour into vegetables, add tomatoes cut up. Cook about 5 minutes. Add garlic, sugar, salt and pepper. Stir into mixture. Cook about 5 minutes. Add shrimp; cook about 5 minutes.

Serve over rice or mashed potatoes or spaghetti or macaroni. Serves 4.
