Ingredients/Components

  • oil - 6 Tbsp
  • hot water - 12 c
  • pepper - 3/4 tsp
  • chopped onions - 3 c
  • oregano
  • salt or to taste - 3 tsp
  • large clove garlic, minced - 3 item
  • beef bouillon cubes - 3 item
  • coarsely chopped cabbage - 6 c
  • cans red or white kidney beans - 3 oz
  • frankfurters, sliced or chunks of ham - 6 item

How to make cabbage bean soup:

Saute onions and garlic in oil about 5 minutes. Add cabbage. Saute for 5 minutes longer. Add water, bouillon and seasoning. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Add meat and beans. Put in jars and process in pressure canner for 1 hour for quarts.

Navy beans can be substituted for kidney beans.
