Cabbage au gratin
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 3 Tbsp
- butter - 3 Tbsp
- evaporated milk - 3/4 c
- melted margarine - 2 Tbsp
- fine dry bread crumbs - 1/2 c
- grated cheese
- salt to taste - 1 item
- medium head cabbage - 1 item
How to make cabbage au gratin:
Slice cabbage into saucepan. Add salt and just enough water to cover. Boil uncovered until tender. Drain, saving water. Melt butter; blend with flour. Add milk and 3/4 cup cabbage water. Stir constantly until thickened. Salt to taste. Place layer of cabbage in casserole. Pour part of sauce over and part of cheese. Repeat, ending with cheese on top. Sprinkle with crumbs, which have been tossed with 2 tablespoons melted margarine. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes.Recipe categories: Side dish, Vegetables, Gluten Free.
