Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • garlic powder - 1/4 tsp
  • black pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • large onion, chopped - 1 item
  • red pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • ground chuck - 1 lb
  • cabbage, chopped - 2 3
  • potatoes, peeled and cubed - 2 item
  • cans kidney beans, undrained - 2 oz
  • small bell pepper, chopped - 1 item
  • smoked sausage, sliced - 1 lb
  • cans tomatoes, undrained and chopped - 2 oz

How to make cabbage bean soup:

In a 5 quart pot, brown beef, sausage, onion and bell pepper. Drain if necessary. Add about 4 cups of water, beans, potatoes and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Reduce to low and simmer 30 to 35 minutes. Add cabbage and continue to cook until potatoes are tender and cabbage is done. Yields 8 to 10 servings.
