Lemon meringue pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- cornstarch
- egg yolks - 3 item
- cold water - 1/2 c
- shortening - 1/2 c
- Meringue:3 egg whites
- 1/2 lemons, squeezed - 1 item
- boiled water
How to make lemon meringue pie:
Pie Filling:1 1/2 c. boiled water1 1/2 c. sugar3 rounded Tbsp. cornstarch1 1/2 lemons, squeezed3 egg yolks Meringue:3 egg whites1/2 c. sugar Pie Crust: Mix flour, salt and shortening. Add water. Mix with a fork. Roll out on floured board. Bake approximately 5 minutes at 425°.Pie Filling: Boil water. In a saucepan, add sugar and cornstarch; mix. Add lemon juice; mix. Add egg yolks; mix. Add boiling water. Heat on stove until it boils and is thickened. Cool a few minutes. Pour into baked crust.
Meringue: Beat egg whites until stiff. Add sugar. Beat a few minutes. Put on filling. Bake 15 minutes at 350°.
