Ingredients/Components
- all-purpose flour - 2 c
- baking powder - 3 tsp
- sugar - 2 tsp
- cream of tartar - 1/2 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- milk - 2/3 c
How to make biscuits:
Stir together flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar and salt and cut in shortening. It will resemble coarse crumbs. Make a well in the center and add milk at once. Stir just until dough clings together. Knead gently for 10 to 12 strokes. Roll or pat to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut and place on baking sheet. Bake at 450° for 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
