Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1 Tbsp
  • water - 1 c
  • vinegar - 1 Tbsp
  • clove garlic, minced - 1 item
  • chopped onion - 1 c
  • chopped green pepper - 1/2 c
  • diced celery - 1/2 c
  • black pepper - 1 item
  • whole bay leaves - 2 item
  • canned tomatoes - 2 c
  • cooked, peeled shrimp - 2 c
  • oil or fat - 3 Tbsp
  • few drops Tabasco to taste - 1 item

How to make shrimp creole:

Cook onion, celery, green pepper and garlic in hot oil until tender. (If garlic clove is used, cook with vegetables; if powder is used, mix with dry ingredients.) Stir in flour, salt, sugar and pepper which have been mixed together. Add water; simmer over low heat for 10 minutes. Add tomatoes, vinegar and bay leaves. Simmer 15 minutes. Add shrimp and heat thoroughly. Serve over hot rice.
