Shrimp creole
Ingredients/Components
- onions, chopped - 1/2 c
- celery, chopped - 1/2 c
- garlic clove, minced - 1 item
- vegetable or olive oil - 3 Tbsp
- can tomato sauce - 1 oz
- can 2 c - 1 lb
- salt
- sugar - 1 tsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 Tbsp
- chili powder - 1/2 1
- dash of Tabasco sauce - 1 item
- cornstarch - 2 tsp
- or 3/4 lb - 1/2 c
- green pepper, chopped - 1/2 c
How to make shrimp creole:
Using a skillet, saute the onions, celery and garlic until tender, but not brown. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, sugar, Worcestershire, chili powder and Tabasco. Blend well and simmer, uncovered, for 45 minutes. Mix cornstarch with 1 tablespoon cold water and stir into sauce. Cook and stir until mixture thickens and bubbles. Add shrimp and green pepper. Cover and simmer about 8 minutes or until shrimp is cooked. Serve over a bed of rice. Serves 6.Recipe categories: Seafood, Shellfish, Shrimp.
