Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1/4 c
  • water - 1 c
  • lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
  • pepper - 1 tsp
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp
  • chopped celery - 1 c
  • cloves garlic, minced - 2 item
  • chopped onions
  • can tomato sauce - 1 oz
  • can tomato paste - 1 oz
  • chopped green onions - 1 c
  • can tomatoes - 1 oz
  • shrimp - 4 lb
  • red pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped bell pepper - 1 c
  • margarine or oil - 1/4 c
  • Tabasco sauce to taste - 1 item
  • or 3 bay leaves - 2 item

How to make shrimp creole:

Make a roux of flour and margarine in large pot. Add onions, green onions, celery, bell pepper and garlic and saute until soft. Add tomato paste, mixing well. Add all other ingredients except shrimp. Simmer slowly for one hour, covered, stirring occasionally. Add peeled, deveined shrimp and cook until done, 5 to 15 minutes. Serve over rice. Serves 10.
