Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • salt
  • cornstarch - 2 tsp
  • salad oil - 3 Tbsp
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • chopped celery - 1/2 c
  • chili powder - 1 tsp
  • tomato sauce - 8 oz
  • green pepper, chopped - 1/2 c
  • cooked rice - 1 item
  • can tomatoes - 1 lb
  • Worcestershire - 1 Tbsp
  • dash of Tabasco - 1 item
  • clove minced garlic - 1 item
  • clean, raw shrimp - 12 oz

How to make shrimp creole:

Cook onion, celery and garlic in oil until tender, but not brown. Add tomatoes and next 6 ingredients. Simmer, uncovered, for 45 minutes. Mix cornstarch with 1 tablespoon cold water and stir into the sauce. Cook and stir until mixture bubbles. Add shrimp and green pepper. Cover and simmer until done, about 5 minutes. Serve over cooked rice.
