Shrimp creole
Ingredients/Components
- butter or margarine - 1/4 c
- water - 1 c
- chopped onion
- snipped parsley - 2 tsp
- cloves garlic, minced - 2 item
- can tomato sauce - 1 oz
- hot cooked rice - 3 c
- finely chopped celery - 1 c
- cayenne red pepper - 1/8 tsp
- bay leaves, crushed - 2 item
- fresh or frozen cleaned, raw shrimp - 14 16
How to make shrimp creole:
Cook and stir onion, celery and garlic in butter until onion is tender. Remove from heat. Stir in tomato sauce, water and seasonings. Simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Add water, if needed. Stir in shrimp. Heat to boiling. Cover and cook over medium heat 10 to 20 minutes or until shrimp are pink and tender. Serve over rice Makes 6 servings.If using frozen shrimp, run under cold water to remove the ice glaze before putting them into the sauce.
