Ingredients/Components

  • buttermilk - 2 c
  • self-rising flour - 5 c
  • Crisco - 1/2 c
  • warm water - 1/4 c
  • white sugar - 4 Tbsp
  • yeast - 2 pkg

How to make grandma's angel biscuits:

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Set aside. Mix flour, sugar and Crisco in large mixing bowl. Add yeast mixture and buttermilk. Make a soft dough. Store in refrigerator until needed. It is best to make out biscuits and let rise at room temperature for one hour before baking. If dough is too soft, you may need to work in more flour. Bake at 450° for 12 -15 minutes or until brown.
