Grandma's apple dumplings
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- butter - 1/4 c
- water - 2 c
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- shortening - 3/4 c
- apples, peeled and diced - 4 c
How to make grandma's apple dumplings:
Mix flour, salt, baking powder and shortening; mix in milk. Roll out dough in rectangle. Spread with apples and sprinkle with a little cinnamon and sugar. Roll up like jelly roll and slice about 1 1/4 inch thick. Place in 9 X 13 pan. Boil sugar, water, cinnamon and butter. Pour over dumplings. Bake at 375° for 30 to 35 minutes.
