  • sugar - 2 c
  • cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
  • milk - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • butter - 1/4 c
  • water - 2 c
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • shortening - 3/4 c
  • apples, peeled and diced - 4 c

How to make grandma's apple dumplings:

Mix flour, salt, baking powder and shortening; mix in milk. Roll out dough in rectangle. Spread with apples and sprinkle with a little cinnamon and sugar. Roll up like jelly roll and slice about 1 1/4 inch thick. Place in 9 X 13 pan. Boil sugar, water, cinnamon and butter. Pour over dumplings. Bake at 375° for 30 to 35 minutes. Serve with whipped cream.
