  • sugar - 1/4 c
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • self-rising flour - 4 c
  • Crisco - 1 c
  • warm water - 1/3 c
  • yeast - 1 pkg

How to make angel biscuits:

Mix yeast in 1/3 cup warm water. Cut shortening into flour and sugar. Add buttermilk and yeast mixture. Mix them, then knead, roll and cut like any other biscuits. Dough will keep in refrigerator for several days. Bake at 400° until brown, about 12 to 15 minutes.
