- boiling water - 3 c
- cold water - 3/4 c
- cornmeal - 1 c
- salt - 1 tsp
How to make fried cornmeal mush:
Moisten cornmeal with enough cold water to make a paste. Stir paste into boiling salted water, beating thoroughly. Stir until it thickens. Cook at low heat for 10 to 15 minutes. Pour hot into a narrow baking pan; let stand until cold and solid. Cut in thick slices and fry on both sides in a well buttered hot skillet until nicely browned.Recipe categories: Grains, Side dish, Vegetables.
