Caramel popcorn
Ingredients/Components
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- light corn syrup - 1/2 c
- popped popcorn - 6 qt
- light brown sugar 1 box - 2 c
- butter 2 sticks - 1 c
How to make caramel popcorn:
Melt butter. Stir in sugar, syrup and salt on medium-high heat; bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil without stirring for 5 minutes. Then remove from heat, stir in soda and vanilla. Put popcorn in large baking pan. Pour caramel over corn and mix. Turn into shallow pan and bake at 250° for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Take out and spread on wax paper until cool.Note: Pop corn in a hot air popper! Parched peanuts may be added to corn. This is much better than store bought Cracker Jacks!
