Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 c
  • eggs - 3 item
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 3/4 c
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • cocoa - 1 tsp
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • boiling water
  • all-purpose flour
  • margarine, softened - 1/2 c
  • uncooked oatmeal - 1 c
  • chocolate chips, divided - 2 c

How to make oatmeal chocolate chip cake:

In a mixing bowl pour water over oatmeal. Allow to stand 10 minutes. Add sugars and margarine, stirring until the margarine melts. Add eggs, one-at-a-time, mixing well after each addition. Sift flour, soda, cocoa and salt together. Add to batter. Mix well. Stir in half of the chocolate chips. Pour into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Sprinkle top of cake with remaining chocolate chips and walnuts. Bake at 350° for about 40 minutes.
