Ingredients/Components

  • vegetable oil - 1/4 c
  • vinegar - 1 c
  • pepper - 1 tsp
  • bay leaf - 1 item
  • pork, chopped into 1-inch cubes or 1 regular cut-up frying chicken - 2 lb
  • piece garlic, smashed - 1 item
  • fresh ginger, sliced - 1/2-i item
  • shoyu or salt to taste - 1 item

How to make chicken or pork adobo:

Season chicken or pork with salt and pepper. Place in saucepan and add ginger, garlic and vinegar. Let simmer for 1 hour on low heat or until tender. If water is needed, add 1/4 cup water. Add more salt or shoyu to taste, if necessary. When meat is tender, saute with vegetable oil until browned. Serve hot.
