Caramel corn



  • brown sugar - 2 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • margarine - 1 c
  • cream of tartar - 1/8 tsp
  • white corn syrup - 1/2 c
  • popcorn, unpopped

How to make caramel corn:

Preheat oven to 250°. Pop popcorn without butter or oil. It needs to be dry. Mix together margarine, corn syrup, brown sugar and cream of tartar. Bring to a boil and boil 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and immediately stir in baking soda, stirring well. This will foam up. Pour over popcorn and mix well. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool on waxed paper and store in airtight container. Yields 15 servings. Preparation time is 75 minutes.
