Caramel corn



  • butter - 1 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • firmly packed sugar - 2 c
  • light corn syrup - 1/2 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • popcorn - 1 gal

How to make caramel corn:

Melt butter in 2-quart saucepan. Stir in sugar, syrup and salt. Bring to boil for 5 minutes; stir constantly. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and soda. Stir briskly so that soda can foam. Stir over popcorn in large container. Then spread out on 2 cookie sheets. Bake at 250° for 1 hour. Turn every 15 minutes. Remove and cool. Break apart and place in airtight container.
