Ingredients/Components

  • water - 1 item
  • egg - 1 item
  • self-rising flour - 3 c
  • chicken bouillon cubes - 5 item
  • black pepper - 1 item
  • stalks celery, chopped - 4 item
  • carrots, sliced - 1 lb
  • bay leaves - 2 item
  • fryer chicken - 1 item
  • no salt - 1 item

How to make chicken and dumplings:

Cut chicken. Put chicken, water and bouillon cubes in gumbo pot. Boil with carrots, celery and bay leaves. Remove bay leaves and discard. Remove chicken; debone and set aside. Mix the flour, egg and enough water to make a stiff dough. Turn onto a floured surface and roll very thin. Cut in 1/2-inch squares. Drop in boiling broth. Cook for 10 minutes. Return chicken to pot and serve.

Use pizza cutter to make job easier.
