Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1 c
- butter or margarine - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour - 1 Tbsp
How to make white sauce:
Medium:1 c. milk2 Tbsp. butter or margarine2 Tbsp. flour1/4 tsp. salt Thick:1 c. milk4 Tbsp. butter or margarine4 Tbsp. flour1/4 tsp. salt Melt butter or margarine in a saucepan. Blend in flour and salt. Cook until bubbly. Add cold milk all at once. Stir over low heat until smooth and thickened.To make a cheese sauce, add 1/2 to 1 cup grated cheese and 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce. Makes great macaroni and cheese.
To reduce fat, use skim evaporated milk instead of regular milk.
