Tomato ketchup
Ingredients/Components
- brown sugar - 1/4 c
- ground cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
- chopped onions - 2 c
- ground allspice - 1/4 tsp
- finely minced garlic - 1 tsp
- tomato paste - 3/4 c
- ground pepper - 1/4 tsp
- large bay leaf - 1 item
- ground mustard - 1/4 tsp
- ground mace - 1/4 tsp
- cloves ground - 1/4 tsp
- malt vinegar - 1/4 c
- chopped fresh or canned tomatoes no salt - 4 c
- sweet green pepper, cut into 1/2-inch cubes - 1 item
How to make tomato ketchup:
Combine tomatoes, tomato paste, onions and green pepper in saucepan. Simmer 30 minutes. Empty tomato mixture into food processor or blender. Blend thoroughly. Return to saucepan. Add other ingredients. Bring to a boil. Simmer 10 minutes. Stir often. Yields about 5 cups.Recipe categories: Sauces, Salsas, Savory sauces.
