Baked country ham
Ingredients/Components
- brown sugar, packed
- ground cinnamon - 2 tsp
- prepared mustard - 2 tsp
- country ham - 1 item
- vinegar from any fruit pickle * - 1 item
How to make baked country ham:
Sauce:1 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed2 tsp. prepared mustard2 tsp. ground cinnamon vinegar (from any fruit pickle) * *If no fruit pickle juice is available, use vinegar and a little peach or pineapple juice.Place ham in warm water and scrub well in early morning. Then soak in cold water all day and night.
The next morning, put ham in large container. Cover with cold water and cook until fork-tender. Let ham cool in cooking water. (This makes it more moist.) Remove from water and skin, removing most of the fat. Score top side of ham in 1-inch squares and place a whole clove in each square.
Make Sauce: Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, mustard and any fruit pickle juice to make a paste. Cover ham with this paste and bake 1 1/2 hours at 300°. Ham should be wrapped in foil for baking.
