Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 4 tsp
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • vinegar - 1 c
  • chopped onion - 2 c
  • cloves minced garlic - 2 item
  • tomatoes - 8 c
  • cumin - 1/2 tsp
  • coriander - 1/2 tsp
  • jalapeno peppers, chopped - 6 item

How to make picante sauce:

Scald, peel and chop tomatoes; add all other ingredients and cook about 25 minutes (until thick enough) and place filled jars in boiling water bath canner and boil for 10 minutes. Makes 12 (1/2 pints). Add peppers to taste while cooking, for desired heat.
