Swedish pecans



  • sugar - 1 c
  • melted butter - 1/2 c
  • dash of salt - 1 item
  • pecans - 4 c
  • egg whites, beat stiff - 2 item

How to make swedish pecans:

Toast pecans in oven at 325° for 10 to 20 minutes or until light brown, stirring occasionally. Fold sugar and salt into egg whites. Beat until stiff peaks form. Fold nuts into beaten egg whites. Place melted butter in bottom of 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Spread nut mixture over butter. Bake at 325° for 30 minutes or until nuts are coated and no butter remains in pan. Stir every 10 minutes. Cool and break apart.

Note: Peanuts may also be prepared this way.
