Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 3 tsp
  • flour - 1 c
  • water - 6 c
  • oil - 1 c
  • chopped celery - 2 c
  • cloves garlic, minced - 2 item
  • chopped onions - 1/2 c
  • chopped parsley - 2 Tbsp
  • cans tomato paste
  • black pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • bay leaves - 2 item
  • red pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp
  • can chopped tomatoes
  • chopped bell peppers - 1/2 c
  • chopped onion tops - 2 Tbsp
  • raw shrimp, cleaned and deveined - 4 lb

How to make shrimp creole:

Make roux of flour and oil. Brown over low heat, stirring constantly. Add seasonings, onions, celery, bell pepper and garlic. Cook until soft. Add tomatoes and paste, mix well and cook about 5 minutes. Add water. Let simmer 2 1/2 hours. Add shrimp, cook about 20 minutes. Add onion tops and parsley. Serve over rice.
