Ingredients/Components
- salt - 2 tsp
- flour - 6 Tbsp
- water - 1 c
- oil - 6 Tbsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 Tbsp
- chopped celery - 1 c
- cloves garlic, minced - 3 item
- chopped onions - 2 c
- basil - 1 tsp
- chopped green onions - 1 c
- tomato sauce - 16 oz
- black pepper - 1 tsp
- bay leaves - 2 item
- cayenne pepper - 1/4 tsp
- thyme - 1 tsp
- chopped bell pepper - 1 c
- peeled shrimp - 3 lb
How to make shrimp creole:
Heat oil in a large, heavy pot. Stir in flour and make a medium brown roux. Add onions, celery, bell pepper and green onions; saute until limp. Add garlic, tomato sauce, tomatoes, bay leaves, black pepper, thyme, basil, salt and cayenne. Cook for 15 minutes. Add Worcestershire sauce; simmer for about 20 minutes.
