Shrimp creole
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- salt
- shortening - 3 Tbsp
- clove garlic, minced - 1 item
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- chopped celery - 1/2 c
- chili powder - 1/2 1
- can tomato sauce - 1 oz
- chopped green pepper - 1/2 c
- dash of hot sauce - 1 item
- can tomatoes - 1 oz
- Worcestershire - 1 Tbsp
- shelled shrimp - 12 oz
How to make shrimp creole:
In skillet cook onion, celery and garlic in shortening until tender but not brown. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder and hot pepper sauce. Simmer uncovered 45 minutes. Mix cornstarch with 1 tablespoon cold water; stir into sauce. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Add shrimp and green pepper. Cover and simmer 5 minutes.
