Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1 Tbsp
  • chopped celery - 1/2 c
  • cloves garlic, minced - 2 item
  • chili powder - 1 tsp
  • bay leaf - 1 item
  • can tomato paste - 1 oz
  • salt and pepper - 1 item
  • chopped parsley - 1/4 c
  • green pepper, chopped - 1 item
  • large onion, chopped - 1 item
  • can tomatoes - 1 lb
  • bacon drippings - 1 Tbsp
  • gumbo file - 1/2 tsp
  • raw cleaned shrimp - 1 lb

How to make shrimp creole:

Saute onion, celery, garlic, bell pepper and parsley in bacon drippings until soft. Add tomato paste, tomatoes and 1 cup water. Add all other ingredients except shrimp and gumbo file. Cook slowly, about 1 hour. Add raw shrimp; cook 15 minutes. Add gumbo file. Serve over rice.
