Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • butter or margarine
  • cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
  • garlic salt - 1/4 tsp
  • chopped celery - 1/2 c
  • chili powder - 1/2 tsp
  • parsley flakes - 2 tsp
  • dash of pepper - 1 item
  • onion flakes - 2 Tbsp
  • chopped green onions - 1/4 c
  • tomato juice - 1/4 c
  • seasoned salt - 2 tsp
  • uncooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • cooked or canned tomatoes
  • cooked rice 2 c - 6 c

How to make shrimp creole:

Creole Sauce:2 Tbsp. butter or margarine2 Tbsp. onion flakes1/4 c. chopped green onions1/2 c. chopped celery1 Tbsp. cornstarch1/4 c. tomato juice1 1/2 tsp. sugar1/2 tsp. chili powder1/4 tsp. garlic salt2 tsp. seasoned salt Melt butter in a heavy saucepan. Add onion flakes, green pepper and celery and cook until celery is tender. Blend cornstarch and tomato juice in separate bowl. Mix sugar and seasonings with tomatoes and add to celery mixture. Add cornstarch mixture and cook and stir for five minutes or until clear and slightly thickened. Add shrimp to hot Creole sauce and simmer gently for about ten minutes or until shrimp are pink and tender. Serve with rice.
