Rhubarb bread
Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- granulated sugar
- salt - 1 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1/2 c
- flour
- brown sugar
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- melted butter - 1 Tbsp
- egg - 1 item
- sour milk - 1 c
- finely diced rhubarb
- liquid shortening - 2/3 c
How to make rhubarb bread:
Topping:1/2 c. granulated sugar1/2 tsp. cinnamon1 Tbsp. melted butter Combine brown sugar and shortening. Stir in egg, sour milk and vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients after dredging rhubarb in some of the flour. Stir in rhubarb and nuts. Pour into well-greased pans.Combine topping ingredients and sprinkle on top. Bake at 325° about 40 minutes. Do not overbake or underbake. Remove baked bread from pans after 2 or 3 minutes and cool on racks.
Note: Baking this in ring molds works well as it bakes more quickly and makes nice little slices. Bread may be frozen.
