Ingredients/Components

  • cinnamon - 1 Tbsp
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1/2 c
  • flour
  • brown sugar
  • nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • melted butter - 1 Tbsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • diced rhubarb
  • sour milk - 1 c
  • Sprinkle with topping
  • liquid shortening - 2/3 c

How to make rhubarb bread:

Combine sugar, shortening and egg, then dry ingredients, milk, vanilla, rhubarb and nuts. Sprinkle with topping.Topping:1/2 c. sugar1/4 tsp. nutmeg1 Tbsp. cinnamon1 Tbsp. melted butter Combine and sprinkle on top of batter. Bake in 2 greased loaf pans at 350° for 50 minutes or until done; cool.
