Gingerbread
Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 2 tsp
- butter or margarine - 4 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- boiling water - 1/2 c
- egg - 1 item
- ginger - 1/2 tsp
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
- light brown sugar - 1/4 c
- dark molasses - 1/2 c
How to make gingerbread:
Sift flour with baking powder, spices and salt; set aside. Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat thoroughly. Combine boiling water and molasses. Stir in soda until dissolved and add to batter. Gradually add flour mixture, stirring well between each addition. Pour into a well-greased 8-inch square pan or 8-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 20 to 30 minutes. Cool in pan until gingerbread shrinks away from sides and then invert onto rack and cool completely.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, < 60 mins.
