Gingerbread apple cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- brown sugar - 1/2 c
- water - 1/2 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- molasses - 1 c
- allspice - 1 tsp
- ground cinnamon
- melted shortening - 1/4 c
- apples, mashed and cooked
How to make gingerbread apple cake:
Apple Mixture Between Layers:1 qt. apples, mashed and cooked1 c. sugar1/2 c. brown sugar1 tsp. allspice1 tsp. cinnamon Combine water and molasses. Sift all dry ingredients and stir into water and molasses. Add the melted shortening. Blend thoroughly and pour into 4 well-greased and floured baking pans. After cakes have cooled, remove from pans and place apple mixture between each layer. To make apple mixture blend together apples, sugar, brown sugar, allspice and cinnamon.
