Ingredients/Components

  • vegetable oil - 1 item
  • egg, beaten - 1 item
  • dry mustard - 1/2 tsp
  • pepper - 1/8 tsp
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp
  • prepared horseradish - 1 tsp
  • seasoned salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Old Bay seasoning - 1/2 tsp
  • drops hot sauce - 2 item
  • fine, dry bread crumbs - 3 Tbsp
  • fresh crabmeat, drained and flaked - 1 lb
  • garnishes: lemon rind and wedges, tomato slices, lettuce - 1 item

How to make crab cakes:

Combine first 8 ingredients; stir well. Stir in crabmeat and bread crumbs. Shape mixture into 6 patties. Pour oil to a depth of 2 inches into a Dutch oven; heat to 375°. Fry until patties are golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Garnish, if desired. Yields 6 servings.
