Brunch casserole
Ingredients/Components
- cubed, day-old, firm white or French bread - 4 c
- shredded Cheddar cheese - 2 c
- eggs, lightly beaten - 10 item
- milk - 1 qt
- salt - 1 tsp
- dash of pepper - 1 item
- onion powder - 1/4 tsp
- to 10 slices cooked bacon, crumbled - 8 item
- sliced mushrooms - 1/2 c
- chopped, peeled tomato - 1/2 c
How to make brunch casserole:
Generously butter a 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Arrange bread cubes in dish and sprinkle with cheese. Beat eggs, milk, dry mustard, salt, dash of fresh ground pepper and onion powder together and pour over cheese and bread. Sprinkle with bacon, mushrooms and tomato. Cover and chill up to 24 hours. Bake at 325°, uncovered, until set (about 1 hour). Tent with foil if top begins to overbrown.Recipe categories: Breakfast, Casseroles, One Dish meal.
