  • flour
  • sugar - 1 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • milk - 1/2 c
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • egg - 1 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • medium apples, chopped - 4 item
  • brown sugar
  • butter, melted - 2 Tbsp
  • nuts - 1/2 c
  • cinnamon - 2 tsp

How to make apple cake:

Topping:1 c. brown sugar2 Tbsp. butter, melted1/2 c. nuts2 tsp. cinnamon Sift dry ingredients. Add milk and shortening; mix. Add egg and vanilla; then fold in apples. Put in 13 x 9-inch pan. Put topping on top of batter. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes. Toothpick should come out clean. Best served warm with ice cream or Cool Whip.
