Wild rice casserole
Ingredients/Components
- sour cream - 2 c
- salt - 2 tsp
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- butter - 1/2 c
- water - 4 c
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- chopped celery - 1/2 1
- slivered almonds, toasted - 1/2 c
- sliced fresh mushrooms - 1 lb
- soy sauce - 1/4 c
- chopped onions - 1 c
- wild rice - 2 c
- sliced water chestnuts optional - 1 item
- lean ground beef, sausage or both - 2 lb
How to make wild rice casserole:
Boil wild rice, water and salt, then drain. Brown ground meat. Saute mushrooms, celery and onion in butter. Combine in bowl the soy sauce, sour cream, flour, salt and pepper. Mix together with rice, meat and mushroom mixtures. Add toasted almonds. Bake in uncovered 3-quart casserole for about 1 hour at 375°. Add water if necessary. Stir casserole occasionally.
