  • green split peas - 1 lb
  • water
  • meaty ham bone - 1 item
  • diced onion
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • garlic salt - 1/4 tsp
  • marjoram - 1/4 tsp
  • diced celery - 1 c
  • diced carrots - 1 c
  • parsley flakes - 1 tsp
  • salt to taste - 1 item

How to make split pea soup:

Cover peas with water and soak overnight. Drain. Add the water, ham bone, onion and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Cover and let simmer for 2 hours. Remove bone and cut off meat. Return meat to soup; add remaining ingredients. Cook slowly for 45 minutes.
