Split pea soup
Ingredients/Components
- green split peas - 1 lb
- water
- meaty ham bone - 1 item
- diced onion
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- garlic salt - 1/4 tsp
- marjoram - 1/4 tsp
- diced celery - 1 c
- diced carrots - 1 c
- parsley flakes - 1 tsp
- salt to taste - 1 item
How to make split pea soup:
Cover peas with water and soak overnight. Drain. Add the water, ham bone, onion and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Cover and let simmer for 2 hours. Remove bone and cut off meat. Return meat to soup; add remaining ingredients. Cook slowly for 45 minutes.Recipe categories: < 4 hours, Soups & stews, 3 steps or less.
