Split pea and barley soup
Ingredients/Components
- water
- chicken broth - 5 c
- onion, chopped - 1/2 c
- white pepper - 1/4 tsp
- carrots, diced - 3/4 c
- barley - 1/2 c
- dried thyme - 1/4 tsp
- split peas
- garlic, minced - 1 tsp
- large celery stalk, diced - 1 item
How to make split pea and barley soup:
Put all ingredients in a 3 or 4-quart pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for about 1 hour until peas begin to fall apart when stirred and barley and vegetables are tender.Recipe categories: Grains, Soups & stews, Carrots.
