Spaghetti sauce
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 item
- Crisco - 1 Tbsp
- pepper - 1 item
- bay leaf - 1 item
- oregano - 1 item
- green pepper, chopped - 1 item
- tomato puree - 1 qt
- small can tomato sauce - 1 item
- sweet basil - 1 item
- small cans tomato paste - 3 item
- or 6 small onions, chopped - 5 item
- country ribs optional - 2 lb
- dash of baking soda - 1 item
How to make spaghetti sauce:
Cut up onions and brown lightly in Crisco or oil. Add chopped pepper and tomato paste; simmer about 5 minutes, stirring very often to keep from burning. Add 2 cans water for each can of paste. Add puree and sauce. Bring to a boil and add a pinch of soda and rest of spices to taste. If ribs are not used, I add some lightly fried ground beef for meat sauce. Add meat balls (do not fry first) and cook at least 3 hours over low heat. Serves 12.Recipe categories: Sauces, Condiments, etc., Italian.
