Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1-1/2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- flour - 2-1/4 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- cocoa - 2 Tbsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- pinch of salt - 1 item
- vinegar - 1 Tbsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- dash of salt - 1 item
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- each - 2 bottles
- Add eggs
- margarine, not melted - 1/2 c
How to make red velvet cake:
Cream sugar and shortening until creamy. Add eggs. Beat well. Add flour with salt alternately with buttermilk. Add vanilla. Make a paste of food color and cocoa. Add to batter and beat well. Mix vinegar and soda and add to batter, mixing well. Makes three layers. Bake 30 minutes at 350°.CRISCO ICING1 c. milk5 Tbsp. flour1/2 c. margarine, not melted1/2 c.
