Ingredients/Components

  • butter - 1/2 c
  • granulated sugar - 1 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • nutmeg - 1/8 tsp
  • yogurt or buttermilk - 1/4 c
  • coarsely chopped, cored pears - 1 c
  • vanilla extract - 1 tsp

How to make pear bread:

Cream butter. Gradually beat in sugar. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Combine dry ingredients; add to egg mixture alternately with yogurt or buttermilk. Stir in pears and vanilla extract. Pour into buttered 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
