Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 2 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 1/4 c
  • butter - 1/4 c
  • pepper - 1/8 tsp
  • buttered bread crumbs - 1/2 c
  • shredded cheese - 1/2 c
  • slices boiled or baked ham - 6 to
  • fresh asparagus spears or broccoli

How to make ham roll-ups:

Melt butter. Blend in flour, salt and pepper. Cook over low heat until bubbly. Gradually stir in milk. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil one minute. Stir in cheese until melted.

Roll 3 or 4 asparagus spears in each ham slice. Fasten with toothpick. Place in baking dish. Pour cheese sauce over ham rolls. Sprinkle with crumbs. Bake at 375° for 20 to 25 minutes.
