- shortening - 1/2 c
- sugar - 1/2 c
- molasses - 1/2 c
- egg - 1 item
- boiling water - 1/2 c
- salt - 3/4 tsp
- soda - 3/4 tsp
- ginger - 1/2 tsp
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
How to make gingerbread:
Cream shortening and sugar until light. Add egg and molasses. Beat thoroughly. Sift dry ingredients together. Add to creamed mixture alternately with water, beating after each addition. Bake in greased and lightly floured 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan for 30 to 40 minutes at 350°.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, < 60 mins.
